Common problems # Dates: common problems A task that left the Inbox on its own is in Someday: giving an Inbox task a date moves it there automatically, and the app does not say so. A deadline that will not save means the account is on the free plan, where the deadline field is Premium. Adding a start date or a deadline to a task that is sitting in the Inbox moves it out of the Inbox automatically. The reasoning is that the Inbox is for things you have not decided about yet, and giving something a date is a decision — but nothing in the app explains the move at the moment it happens, so it reads as a task going missing. That is a fair complaint and it is on the list to fix. The task itself is intact: same title, same notes, same dates. It will appear in Today when its start date arrives, exactly as it would have from anywhere else. ## The deadline will not save The deadline field is part of Premium, not just the Deadlines view. On the free plan the value is rejected when you save. There is a rough edge here worth naming: on a project, the Set Deadline option is currently shown to free accounts even though the write will not succeed. Nothing is broken and nothing is lost — the app is offering something the plan does not include, which it should not do. If that is what you hit, the app is behaving as designed and presenting it badly. The start date is free, and for most tasks it is the only date you need. Only the start date — labelled When in the app — puts a task into Today. A deadline schedules nothing: it appears in the Deadlines view and nowhere else, deliberately, so that a distant cutoff does not clutter the day it was set on. A task with a deadline of today and no start date will not be in Today, and that is correct behaviour rather than a bug. ## The time I typed disappeared It was recognised and then discarded. Both date fields store a date with no time, so typing “tomorrow at 9” sets tomorrow and removes “at 9” from the title — leaving the words in would be worse, but the 9 has nowhere to live. Since there are also no reminders on any platform, a stored time would currently have nothing to do. ## Questions people ask ### Why did my task move to Someday by itself? Because you gave it a date while it was in the Inbox. Dating an Inbox task moves it to Someday automatically, on the reasoning that the Inbox holds undecided things. The app does not explain this at the time, which is why it looks like the task disappeared. ### Why can I not save a deadline? The deadline field is part of Premium — not only the Deadlines view, but the field itself. On a project you may still see a Set Deadline option on the free plan even though the save will be rejected; that is a UI oversight rather than a fault with your account. ### My task is due today. Why is it not in Today? Only the start date puts a task into Today. If the date you set was the deadline, the task appears in the Deadlines view instead — deadlines deliberately schedule nothing, so that a cutoff three weeks out does not fill up your day. ### Where did the time of day go? It was stripped from the title and not stored. Both fields hold a date only, with no time component anywhere in the model, so there is nowhere to keep it — and with no reminders on any platform, nothing that would use it. ### Can I get a notification when something is due? No. TaskPocket has no reminders or notifications on any platform, and none are shipped. Today and Deadlines are views you check rather than alerts that arrive.
