I built this because I moved to a Windows laptop.

For more than five years I ran everything through Things 3. It was the only task app I ever properly stuck with — it was quiet, it was good-looking, and I never had to think about it. Then work handed me a Windows laptop, and Things doesn't exist on Windows. My whole system was suddenly on the wrong side of the room.

So I went looking. I tried a lot of them. Todoist was the obvious one, and it does far more than I need — filters, labels, priorities, a settings screen I'd have to learn. Every time I set one of these up I ended up maintaining the tool instead of doing the work. The rest were either the same or plain ugly.

What I actually wanted was small: something simple and nice to look at, that opens in a browser on whatever machine I happen to be using. I couldn't find it, so I built it.

TaskPocket has been my own task manager for almost a year. Not a side project I poked at — the actual place my work and my life live, every day, on a laptop and a phone. I only decided to release it now, because it took that long before I stopped wanting to change things about it.

That's still how it gets built. Every task on the roadmap is in TaskPocket, so anything annoying gets found by me first. There's no team and no investors, which means nobody here needs this to grow into an enterprise product with a permissions matrix.

Web and iPhone are out now. Android is in development, and a desktop app comes after that. If something's missing, it's either on the roadmap or it's a no, and I'll tell you which — just email [email protected].
